'The
Reaper' is a 12 minute short horror film that is a completed film all on
its own, but also is set to be the opening segment of the anthology feature film, 'All Hallows
Eve'. It was shot the weekend of July 10th and 11th in Tampa, Florida.

'The
Reaper' is a 12 minute short horror film that is a completed film all on
its own, but also is set to be the opening segment of the anthology feature film, 'All Hallows
Eve'. It was shot the weekend of July 10th and 11th in Tampa, Florida.
The film is complete and is currently set to show at the 'New York City Horror Film Festival'.
ENIGMA FILMS intends to use the short to help raise awareness and ultimately secure the funding for the remaining two segments and the wrap around that will unite several of the genres top stars for the first time.
A Casting Call was held for 'The Reaper' and several local actors and actresses threw their hats in the ring to be a part of this very special film. The project was shot on Digital Video using the new Panasonic DVX100A 3 CCD camera. This camera allows us to shoot in 24p mode and will help give the overall film a better 'Film look' than any other Digital camera on the market today.
The cast was selected over a long email process that helped narrow down the
field to a select group. The finalists were then selected and brought in for a
video audition. Once all of the footage was looked over by all of the parties
involved the casting assignments were finalized.
Krista Grotte (The Nightmare Collection) was selected as the lead female 'AMBER' as she nailed the part from the moment she stepped in front of the camera. She portrayed all of the qualities we looked for in the sultry yet headstrong 'AMBER'. We feel Krista will make the role her own and bring it to a level we could have only wished for. Our experience using her as 'Necro Nancy' in our own 'The Nightmare Collection' Volume 1 made the selection that much easier as we knew what we could expect from this rising star.
Damian
Beurer (We're coming to save you) was then selected to play the very complex
title character, 'The Reaper'. We feel he will be able to play the handsome male
figure 'GERALD' that transforms to the hideous demon and pull it off nicely. He
has plenty of range to capture what we need as this film will be more of an
atmospheric and scary horror film rather than an in your face bloodbath. There
will be plenty of the latter in the upcoming segments.
Music and atmosphere will play a big part in this film as we want to try our hand at scaring people with solid writing and characters and we feel this film will be able to accomplish just that.
The whole idea is to present a very solid and creepy short horror film to the public but to also let them know that there is more to the story and we hope to be able to bring it all to them. Upon completion of 'The Reaper' we will go right into production for the second segment entitled, 'Feeding Time' and the ball will continue rolling as we hope to bring the entire 'All Hallows Eve' feature film together and show the genre loving public what Indie horror films can be like.
