Monster is a modern day re-telling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Although a few themes from Frankenstein remain, (Bringing the dead back to life) Monster is an entirely different entity altogether.

Monster deals with two brothers, one good and one bad. Paul, the good brother, is a doctor who wants to do what’s right, try to heal the sick. Steve, the bad brother, wants to do what he thinks is right, twisted experiments trying to bring the dead back to life.

Steve wants to show Paul what he can do, to prove to him that he is capable of doing something seeing as Paul has always been the more favored brother. Steve shows Paul a re-animated hand he has been working on, his first breakthrough in re-animation. Upon seeing what Steve has done, Paul is disgusted and leaves, humiliated by what Steve has become.

Seeing that Paul will never agree with his vision, Steve knows that he will have to proceed with plan B.

Plan B involves hiring two lunatic’s to kill his brother Paul and then Steve will bring him back to life, showing him that re-animation of a human victim is possible.

Unfortunately the to lunatic’s "cut him up too much" and all Steve is left to work on is a disfigured piece of flesh which looks nothing like the original Paul. Through hours of work Steve is finally able to bring Paul back to life, but what he brings back to life is nothing like the old brother he once knew.

Confused and angry, Paul the "Monster" destroys the lab and leaves. Going back home and peering through the window, the Monster gazes at his wife…knowing she could never accept him in his new form, he flees through the night and searches for the very thing that destroyed him…the lunatic’s.

What results is the final showdown between Steve, the Monster and the lunatics and we are left wondering, who is the Monster, the Monster itself or the men who’ve created him?
